Class Descriptions

* Intro I (Age 2)

This is a combination class including ballet, jazz, tap and tumbling for little ones who are just starting to dance!  We also learn opposites, colors,  shapes, creative movement and have fun playing with princess wands, streamers, maracas, pom poms, scarfs and baby dolls.

– Dress Code: Leotard, tights, skirt or shorts. All students will need full sole pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes.

*Intro II (Age 3)

This is a combination class including ballet, jazz, tap and tumbling for those who have taken dance before or are brand new and are ready to learn more!  We also learn team work, taking directions from our teachers, opposites, colors, shapes, creative movement and have fun playing with princess wands, streamers, maracas, pompoms, scarfs and baby dolls.

– Dress Code: Leotard, tights, skirt or shorts. All students will need full sole pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes.

*Tiny Tots (Age 4)

This is a combination class including ballet, jazz, tap and tumbling for those who are eager to begin barre technique and performance skills! We also learn team work, taking directions from our teachers, super stretching, opposites, colors, shapes and have fun playing with princess wands, streamers, maracas, pompoms, scarfs and baby dolls.

– Dress Code: Leotard, tights, skirt or shorts. All students will need full sole pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes.

*Combo Jazz and Ballet Ages 5-6

This is a combination class including ballet, jazz, tap and tumbling for those ready to improve technique, performance skills and deep stretching! We also learn strengthening exercises, deep stretching, performance skills, team work, creative movement and have fun playing with princess wands, streamers, maracas, pompoms and scarfs.

– Dress Code: Leotard, tights, skirt or shorts. All students will need full sole pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes.

*Combo Jazz and Ballet Ages 7 – 18

  • Classical Ballet: This in an introduction to the amazing world of pre-pointe training in classical ballet.  Students will learn barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor work. They will all learn proper technique, stretching and strengthening exercises to prepare for pointe shoes.  All students will be taught a ballet peice for our May recital.
    • – Dress Code: A leotard, tights, black skirt or shorts. All students will need split sole pink leather or canvas ballet slippers 
  • Jazz/Lyrical: This is an introduction to turns, leaps and extensions.  Students will learn proper warms ups and stretching, across the floor technique and center technique. Our focus will be on proper turning technique, flexibility and strength with extensions, jumps, leaping and tricks.  All students will learn one to two dances in jazz or lyrical to perform at our May recital.
    • – Dress Code: Leotard, tights, tight capris, leggings or shorts. All students will tan jazz turners

*Ballet Ages 7 – 12

  • Classical Ballet: This is a continuum in strengthening and conditioning in pre-pointe. Students will learn slightly complicated barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor work. They will all learn proper technique, stretching and strengthening exercises to prepare for pointe shoes. All students will be taught a ballet peice for our May recital.
    • Dress Code: A black leotard, pink tights, skirt or shorts.  All students will need split sole pink leather or canvas ballet slippers

*Jazz/Contempoary Ages 7 – 12

  • Jazz/Contemporary: This is a continuum in turns, leaps, jumps, extensions and specialty tricks. Students will learn proper warm ups and stretching, across the floor combinations and center combinations. Our focus will be on proper turning technique, flexibility and strength for extensions, proper technique in jumps, basic leaps, switch leaps, specialty leaps and specialty tricks. All students will learn one to two dances in jazz or contemporary to perform at our December and May recital.
    • Dress Code: Leotard, tights, tight capris, leggings or shorts.  All students will need tan jazz turners.

Acrobatics/Gym (ages 3-5)

This is an introduction into basic tumbling with correct form and coordination exercises.  Children will learn proper stretching and warm ups associated with gymnastics and exercises to help with strength and basic tumbling skills.    The gymnasts will have a demonstration in our May recital, with each child having a solo demonstration trick.

*Dress Code: Leotard and shorts.  No shoes are required.

Beginning Acrobatics/Gymnastics (Ages 5 and up)

This is an introduction into tumbling and acrobats with correct form and coordination exercises.  Gymnasts will learn proper stretching and  warm ups associated with gymnastics and exercises to help with strength and form and learn beginning tumbling skills.  The gymnasts will have a demonstration in our May recital, with each gymnast have a solo demonstration trick.

Intermediate Acrobatics/Gymnastics (Ages 6 and up)

This is a continuum in tumbling and acrobats with correct form and coordination exercises.  Gymnasts will learn proper stretching and warm ups associated with gymnastics and exercises to help with strength and form and learn intermediate to intermediate/advanced tumbling skills.  The gymnasts will have a demonstration in our May recital, with each gymnast have a solo demonstration trick.

Beginning Hip Hop (Ages 6-8)

Beginning Hip Hop is an introduction into Funk, Pop and Locking, Tutting, Break Dancing and more.  Dancers will learn choreography, body isolation and rolls, beginning foot and hand work, standing stalls, floor stalls and performance skills. Dancers will perform a routine in our May recital to demonstrate the skills they learn.

*Dress Code: Baggy Pants, leggings, shorts and a tight t-shirt or tank top.  All students will be required to wear tennis shoes.
